    Without kindling, it can be very difficult to get a fire going. You need kindling like bark, dry leaves, and small twigs because if you can get those burning, you can get thicker things like branches to start burning. But what if you're in a situation where there's no dry kindling available?

    You might be surprised to learn that you already have some kindling in your lunch box. For example, most chips catch fire pretty easily because of the fat and carbohydrate content. Just light your chips on fire, then use the burning chips to light thicker materials.
