Today I want to share a video by Canadian Prepper. It’s about all the new survival gear showing up in the market. The preparedness niche has grown massively ever since the Great Recession, and with all these new products to choose from, it’s very tempting to become obsessed with buying the latest and greatest survival gear.
It’s great to have lots of survival gear if you can afford it, but you have to remember that there have always been survivalists. A few decades ago, there were countless people who could live off the grid or survive in the wilderness without all the new survival products that have shown up since then.
Nowadays, there are some preppers who have so much stuff, they spend all their time organizing their things instead of actually practicing basic survival skills. So you definitely need to be careful about getting carried away acquiring unnecessary gear and supplies.
Canadian Prepper covers this topic in depth in the video below.

I’ve just seen an ad on a prep site for 20lbs. bucket of sugar for $40= $2 / Lb..The local market has a 4Lb. bag for about $1.50= about $1.65/Lb..The prep site charges almost double the price.
I prefer to have a few quality tools rather than a 15pce kit someone else designed to be sold to the masses, sure i have a few too many knives 30+ lol, but all of my emergency equipment fits into a 220ltr plastic barrel. i refuse to join any of the groups within my area because most of them are too into gear!
That’s probably my favorite of the Canadian Preppers videos
We have some of the “gotta get it all” types in our group. To be honest, I think we all pass through this phase. This is why we stress frequent exercises to test and hone our plans. We are continually training with the stuff we have. As we acquire new things, we either sell/trade the older items to new members, or cashe them. This allows the resources to not be lost or wasted.
I’m very much the “gotta get it all” personality type. I love collecting things, but I have to fight that instinct so I don’t waste money and fill my house with crap I don’t need.
