Recently I got on a bit of a health kick, and I decided to stop drinking coffee. I’m sure a couple cups a day is no big deal, but I was drinking it all day long and was starting to wonder what it might be doing to my health, so I quit cold turkey. Big mistake.
I don’t think I’d ever tried quitting coffee cold turkey before, and I was surprised at how difficult it was. I had a pounding headache for a couple of days, and even when that passed, I still felt tired all the time. After a few days, I wasn’t exactly tired, more like lacking in motivation. I just didn’t feel like doing anything, and actually started feeling kind of depressed. Apparently, I was more of a caffeine addict than I realized.
All this is why it might be a good idea to quit drinking coffee before the SHTF. That way you won’t have to worry about running out. Better yet, just keep enough on hand so that if the coffee supply runs dry, you can wean yourself off of it with what you have. But what happens once the coffee is gone for good?
