People talk about what a crazy year 2020 has been, but if you ask me, it's been a crazy decade. We've had record-breaking hurricanes, wildfires, and natural disasters. We've gone through not one, but two of the worst economic downturns since the Great Depression. And the world has become even more dangerous, with scientists putting the doomsday clock closer to midnight than ever before.

None of this bodes well for the next decade. So what can we expect from the 2020s? In this video, City Prepping talks about six things to watch for in the next 10 years. Here's what he talks about:
1. Social Polarization
America has been divided before (the Civil War, for example), but this new polarization doesn't seem like it's going to go away any time soon. In fact, social media is actively turning people against each other in order to keep people on their platforms for longer. If it keeps getting worse, it could lead to a second Civil War.
2. Debt & Income Divide
The gap between the rich and the poor has gotten wider than ever, and all signs indicate that it will only get worse. Historically, when a nation's middle class gets wiped out, the nation itself is thrown into chaos or authoritarianism.
3. Global Economic Depression
This will only exacerbate the debt and income divide. Although the stock market has recovered, the real economy is continuing to deteriorate. If it keeps getting worse, expect an increase in crime.
4. Climate Change
As he points out in the video, it doesn't really matter whether humans are causing it or not. Either way, the planet is definitely getting warmer. Even if it's just part of a natural cycle, it still spells trouble for humans who need certain climate conditions in order to grow enough food and live in certain areas.
5. Housing & Shelter Insecurity
We already have a homelessness crisis, and once all the eviction moratoriums come to an end, there could be millions more people with nowhere to go. That means more crime and more civil unrest.
6. Public Health Crisis
We've become so dependent on prescription drugs to keep us alive and feeling well, but did you know that most prescription drugs are made in China and India? What happens if relations between us and them rapidly deteriorate and they stop shipping us our drugs?
As you can see, there are many potential disasters to prepare for in the 20s. Being prepared is more important than ever before.
In the video below, City Prepping goes into much more detail about these problems, giving more examples of what could go wrong and how to prepare.
