I'm a pretty nice guy. I avoid confrontations and try to get along with everybody I meet, but there are some people in this world that you just can't get along with. No matter how nice you are or how much you compromise with them, they will stab you in the back first chance they get. When I encounter someone like that, I have to force myself to stop being a nice guy and treat them the way they deserve to be treated.
It has often occurred to me that after the SHTF, there will be a lot more people like that. Your neighbor who has always been friendly and helpful could turn into a complete asshole who will steal your supplies the second you look away. It's great to be a nice guy while everything is okay. But when things get bad, being a nice guy could get you killed.
That is the subject of this video by Canadian Prepper. And it's not just about being willing to confront and/or fight off dangerous people; it's about being willing to break the rules. I tend to follow all the most important laws (I don't even speed very often). But if the SHTF, I will be more than willing to break the speed limit and go off road whenever I have to.
