This week I found another video by VP Prepping & Survival. In it he talks about the 4 guns he would want to have (if he could only pick 4) in an SHTF scenario / zombie apocalypse.
In a worst-case scenario, you’ll need some kind of semi-automatic firearm. You’ll also want a small gun that’s easy to conceal, a shotgun which is good for self defense and hunting, and a long-distance rifle so you can take out enemies before they get anywhere near you.
You can watch the full video below.
Here in South Africa we are more limited with weapons we have our handguns a lot of hunting rifles and some shotguns its against the law to own a semi outo of full outs rifle but if push comes to shove we will make a plan
I have several different options available. However, for urban environments, I prefer an M4/AR-15 with red dot optic, Glock 19, Mossberg MVP Patrol Rifle in .308 and an 18″ barreled Remington 870 pump action shotgun.
Mine are well I guess what I have, tapco sks, red dot, 20 rnd mags, .30-06 bolt, Winchester sxp defender, and marlin papoose with scope, and all variaties of ammo and grains. And lots of ammo still not enough yet though.
7.62mm nato LMT AR10 clone with 20 inch barrel, long range and accurate enough, also plenty of ammo out there.
Ruger 1022 TDR or Henry arms AR7, concealable and quiet enough .22LR, both can be match lighters at 50 yards, plenty of ammo and the Ruger is threaded for a suppressor so less noise and flash at night.
Walther P22, easily concealed and quiet especially with a suppressor (same threading as the Ruger so can use suppressor from the Ruger to be almost silent, especially with low velocity loads)
Mossberg 500/590 12ga with 18″ and 28″ barrels or 20″ double barrel coach gun in 12ga, multi use and tougher than army boots, so much variety of ammo.
I would prefer all in olive drab or coyote synthetic finish rather than black for obvious reasons,,, but i live in the UK so unless i was at relatives in Florida when SHTF I’ve got a long way to go to my cache :/
Can’t really go wrong with a lot of these choices. My four guns that I have chosen are the M-4 16″ AR style rifle as my main gun, a Remington 870 shotgun with buckshot and optional slug ammo for longer precision shots, a Glock 21 45ACP handgun as a side arm because the larger size fits better in my larger hands but the same in 9 and 40 works too, and the Remington 700 in 308 for longer precision shots. These weapons are easy to maintain and repair and there are plenty of armorer’s courses to take. Ammo availability is also important to me in case you have to bargain or hunt for surplus ammo. The ammo is easy to reload as well if you are up to a spare hobby. Whatever choice you make, become proficient with it and become confident in maintenance and repair of your weapon system.
My choices are 243 savage, good deer rifle, Henry 22 lever rifle, 15 rounds, small game gun, gotta eat rite. Ruger SR9C with 3, 17 round mags, nice dependable carry gun. 20 guage pump (wife can handle better than a 12 guage) and my 45 colt single action, it’s fun and awsome close range stopping power. Soon to come is Core 15, AR with numerous 30 rd mags in 223
You want a .22 rifle also!
Get an accurate 308 semi-auto battle rifle like an AR-10 or M1A and dump that SKS and Rem 700. The 223 is an ineffective cartridge at long range anyway. If you think that it is then go with an AR-15 in a long barrel varminter configuration and again forget that SKS and Rem 700 as the AR can perform both tasks equally well.
good economical choices, cartridge choices are good. one glaring omission…a 22 caliber either rifle or pistol. a battle rifle, centerfire side arm, shotgun are all good but I would have to place a good quality 22 caliber handgun or rifle over a 223 bolt rifle. my opinion.
