$100 Walmart Bug Out Bag

Every prepper understands the importance of having a bug out bag. Unfortunately, a good bag and all the gear that goes in it can be a bit pricey for some people, costing hundreds of dollars. In this video, Tim from EverydayTacticalVids proves you can make a bug out bag for very little money.

Granted, it’s not going to be highest-quality bag or gear, but it will be enough to get you across town during a disaster where the roads are impassable (he also calls it a “get home bag”).

Here’s what’s in it:

  • Water Bottle
  • Head Lamps (2)
  • Multitool with Case
  • 5 in 1 Survival Whistle
  • Mace
  • Mini First Aid Kit
  • Poncho
  • Canned Potatoes
  • Peanut Butter Crackers
  • Payday Bar
  • Canned Tuna
  • Aquatabs
  • Survival Reflect Tent
  • Firestarters
  • Waterproof Matches
  • Loaf Tins
  • Socks (3 Pack)
  • Clothesline
  • Sleeping Bag

Watch the video below to hear his commentary on these items.

In the next video, he actually tests out the bag by putting it on and walking across town to his home. Along the way, he stops and tests out some of the gear. Watch it to find out how it went.

Add some plastic drop cloths and some nylon line. and some heavy duty contractor size trash bags and I would have all the gear packed in trash bags to keep all the gear dry in the bag and the sleeping bag dry as well. Check out a “Dakota Fire Hole” as a way to have low profile fire. For that you would need a some trowel. I would add metal camp spoon, fork and knife too

peanut butter and crackers go rancid very quickly in the trunk of your car and taste like HELL. As for a water bottle I would just use a empty 1 liter pop battle. as for the head lights – tape the switch so they can not come on by accident. Make a ‘Billy can’ out of a #10 can and a metal coat hanger instead of the ‘loaf tins’. Romaine noodles would be a better choice for food you can eat the noodles dry and they taste fine. I would have added a steel canteen or camping cup so I could have hot food. You should store some of your matches in the 5 in 1 Survival Whistle that way the matches are not all in one place.
