This video actually several years old, but I just came across it recently and I thought it was worth sharing. There are basic first aid kits out there for $10 or $20, but you get what you pay for with kits that cheap. If you really want a quality kit that will cover a wide range of medical problems, you’re going to spend closer to $100.
But in this video, The Patriot Nurse explains how to put together a good medical kit for only $50. She points out the things most likely to kill people in a long-term disaster are wounds, diarrhea, and upper respiratory infections. Her kit is based around these things.
Here’s what she recommends:
- Guaze (4×4 pads)
- Band-Aids (3×4 pads)
- 70% Isopropyl Alcohol
- Hydrogen Peroxide
- Apple Cider Vinegar
- Ibuprofen
- Tylenol
- Benadryl
- Medical Tape
- Mini Flashlight
- Kotex Pads
- Mucinex
- Halls Cough Drops
- Immodium
- Hydrocortisone
- Antibiotic Ointment
- Butt Paste
- Nitrile Exam Gloves
- Instant Cold Packs
- Thermometer
I highly recommend checking out the video below where she explains these items in more detail and what they’re for.

On your other site, you mention respiratory infections but you had nothing in your kit for that. It is pretty difficult to get your doctor to prescribe a bottle of 10 to 14 days supply of amoxicillin, when you don’t need it at the time!
You can substitute fish mox for amoxicillin in a kit. in 50 or 100 tabs.
Thank you for summarizing these videos in all of your posts. I can read much more quickly than I can watch, so it’s nice to be able to skim through your post and then go back and watch the video later.
