In a way, outside threats are easier to deal with. You can beef up home security, get weapons for self-defense, stock up on plenty of supplies, and so forth. But what if the threat is inside you? What if it comes from a simple cut on your hand or foot and spreads throughout your body? The idea is terrifying.
In this article, Theresa from Survivopedia explains how to make penicillin at home, which could save your life from a deadly infection after hospitals and pharmacies have been ransacked.

Honey is a great antibacterial for wounds. Ive heard of people scraping sulfer licks. There are alot of effective herbal remedies for skin and wounds but if you get a systemic infection AND if your body cant fight is off you are probably gonna die. Penicillin doesnt treat many things anymore and some people believe that the emergence of resistant bacteria will be WSHTF.
All I can say is little knowledge is dangerous .
Spreading misinformation is ………..
If SHTF then im sure that people will do all they can to save a persons life. So either they use everything they can think of to heal someones life or they give up. I for one would try all i could n at the end of trying then id find someone or make my own like the article tells you. In that type of situation its good to know every alternative you can learn to survive..period
From an herbalist point of view, I believe that garlic and onions are good solid antibiotics that can easily be obtained and stored.
Good luck. Most aren’t smart enough to get past the front gate…then you have to deal with the fact that penicillin isn’t all that effective to begin with and your molds are unlikely to be exactly what you think they are without lots of lab work.
Survive when SHTF? Find a smart person to be under. Oh wait. SHTF won’t happen if we look to the intelligent to rule society in the first place. DERP
If this is on the net, it must be true!!! Lol!!! I pity the people who believe bread mold is penicillin, it’s NOT!!!
True, Penicillin comes from one very specific type of mold.
I’m allergic to penicillin.
Just remember to keep your pressure cooker handy WTSHTF. OR ,stock up on a bunch of penicillin pills.
All good points, but the article describes a situation when the bug gets inside, too late for any topical protocols. In other words the shtf-an extreme life death situation, going this extreme may be reasonable risk as death is eminent. As with all healthcare, despite the Pharma paid propaganda to the contrary, it depends. That’s why 2nd opinions from different people from different approaches maybe indicated. Peace, no one gets through this demensiin alive.
As I recall penicillin is a citrus fungus, not a bread mold. It would seem from the images this advice would be way off base to begin with.
You’re right, but in addition to citrus it can also be made from the mold of other things such as bread and cantaloupe.
Fo 69 years I’ve been told it was a bread mold.
Another, much safer and easier antimicrobial to make is colloidal silver I use it in my wound care center as my primary cleaning agent and sometimes the only contact wound product. I find it effective against most bacteria, yeast and fungus infections. Not very effective with Pseudomonas (the infection will look green and smell very sweet) infections. I have used colloidal silver effectively with bone infections-topically. I also gargle it for sore throats and use it on my grandchildren. Colloidal silver has both pros and cons, but overall much safer than making your own penicillin.
You need to go a lot deeper into the bad side effects of Colloidal Silver.
I know a senator who’s feeling blue over some of those effects. 😉
Turning into a Smurf can’t be healthy.
Many bugs are resistant to penicillin. You would be better off to store salt, clean water and soaking cloth which would draw out infection, use 1 teaspoon salt in one cup of water. Soak cloth or 4 X 4s in salt solution, apply to wound, and let dry. Replace with new wet cloth until infection gone. Osmosis will pull the infection out. This was used before antibiotics were available. My Dr. taught me this. Good for surface infection when you can’t afford antibiotic.
Good to know, I didn’t know this. Just regular table salt?
I’m not sure it was the best idea to post this, especially given that the author of the linked “article” is not a scientist and is wrong about penicillins effect on the plague, a few years ago a man in some desert part of America (I forget exactly where) contracted the plague from infected rats and fleas on his property and was hospitalized for months in a coma and lost his leg as a result of the plague. The author also extremely exaggerated the need for penicillin with regards to cuts and scraps which if kept clean and dry will not develop infection in people except in very rare cases of immunodeficiency. I feel that the “article” could potentially place people who cannot do further research for whatever reason or people who simply do not have the required medical understanding in danger.
Thank you previous poster. I find that way too many people don’t have a clue what they are talking about. Medicine takes years of experience. Some of these people could be looking at law suits. Of course, if tshf, that’s a moot point.
I totally agree with the Kat’s comments…
