In case you don’t know, the “5 C’s of Survivability” is a term coined by survival expert Dave Canterbury from Dual Survival. It’s an easy way to remember the things you need to survive in the wilderness. His list includes a cutting tool, combustion, covering, container, cordage. Since they are the most difficult things to reproduce in the wild, you should try to always have them with you.
While these items are great for wilderness survival, what about urban survival? In this video, Urban Resilience comes up with five C items that you should carry with you in urban environments. Here’s the list:
- Currency (credit or cash)
- Communication and Charging
- Candling (anything that produces light)
- Contrivance (tool such as a knife)
- Concealed Carry or Counter Crime
Of course, there are other C words that would work such as crowbar or conveyance (transportation). What do you think? You can watch the full video below.
