The main reason preppers learn survival skills is so they won’t be helpless if they lose all their supplies. For example, if you don’t have a fire starter, you’ll need to know how to start a fire without one.
But there’s another good reason to learn survival skills: barter.
In a post SHTF world where money has become worthless, many people will resort to bartering with one another. And although it’s a good idea to have plenty of barter items, it’s even better if you have skills you can barter.
Then you can get what you need without giving up any of your own supplies. The following article lists 15 survival skills that will be in high demand after the SHTF. Follow the link below to check it out.
Completely agree with you. Skills need to be obtained. However hunting is a skill which is often under estimated. Same can be said for trapping. Making a trap out of wood in a survival situation is difficult if you’ve mastered it, let alone a noob. That’s Why I made the quick trap. It’s so easy to set up. The best feature i think is its 3 in 1 traps. Fish, baited or non baited. It also includes free 5.50 cord and water container.
But this isn’t 1492. If the population is left to hunt and fish the woods and streams will be barren of all game in a matter of weeks. And then we really are screwed…
Think everybody has the skills to live off the land do you? Most folks haven’t a clue how to make a dead fall, snare, or fish and bird traps. Or read the sign well enough to know where to hunt trap and fish. The herd will be culled in short order by the millions if the “shtf” and that will leave only the people with the know how and the strength to survive. All the rest will be long gone and the recourse won’t be stretched so thin. This lady is right on point and a hunter/trapper will never go hungry.
Sorry Mark, I meant man.. I had just been reading a post from a lady!
Very interested in this type of material, Have many family members who disagree with me!
You’ll be their best friend if SHTF. ?
