Usually when we think about what we’re prepping for, we imagine all the classic widespread disasters: hurricanes, earthquakes, economic crises, terrorist attacks, etc. But oftentimes disasters happen to just one family at a time. One of the most common examples is house fires.
Every year there are over 350,000 house fires in the United States. Over 16,000 people are injured, and over 3,000 people die. Many of these fires could have been prevented by taking the proper safety precautions. And in cases where precautions were taken and there is a fire anyway, there are still things you can do to increase your chance of escape.
Prep For SHTF recently wrote an excellent article on house fires and prevention tips. This is especially relevant during the winter because alternative heating appliances are the cause of many fires. The article covers the causes of fires, smoke alarms, and escape plans. Definitely worth the read.
