This is such a great idea! Julie from Home Ready Home recommends making something called a Grab and Go Binder for emergencies. The point is to have all your important documents–financial, housing, insurance, medical, etc–in one convenient binder that you can take with you if you have to evacuate.
The main benefit here is the amount of time you will save. If you need to bug out, you don’t want to waste time digging through your desk drawers or your filing cabinet looking for all the documents you might need.
